=====================
How are day-night roller blinds arranged and what are their differences?
Roller blinds are products in which the fabric is wound onto a shaft located at the top into a roll. The rotation of the shaft is regulated by a chain mechanism that is attached to the window plane with brackets. For uniform folding and unfolding of the canvas at the bottom of the curtain, the fabric is pulled by a special metal tube.
For a more detailed diagram of ordinary "day-night" curtains with a consideration of all the details, see on this page.
Like ordinary curtains, "day-night" curtains come in open and closed systems.
Installation of open system curtains to a window is possible with or without drilling the window profile. In the latter case, the curtains are attached with Velcro to special L-shaped brackets.
In closed systems, the shaft with the fabric is hidden in a special box, which prevents the curtain from getting dirty.
Two aluminum guides – flat vertical slats – are attached to the sides of the curtain. Depending on the color of the window profile, the box and guides are white, brown (for different types of wood textures) or atracite.
Curtains also differ in shaft diameter. For ordinary or small windows, curtains with a shaft diameter of 17-19 mm are suitable. For wide windows and openings, products with a shaft diameter of 25 mm or more are installed.
To prevent the curtain fabric from sagging (for example, when the windows are aired), the bottom bar clamps (on a hairpin or on a cable) are used. In closed systems, the side guides are the clamps for the fabric.
There are hundreds of different types of fabric, from sheer tulle fabrics to heavy blackout fabrics. See below for fabric selection principles.
Next, we will look in detail at what to consider when choosing day-night roller blinds.
=====================
Which curtains are suitable for your windows and doors?
When choosing day-night curtains, first of all, pay attention to the intensity of the light flow into the room, the location and shape of the window openings, and the details of the room's interior.
In this regard, fabrics with different permeability and shades are selected. The system is chosen: open or closed.
If you need to hang a curtain on a balcony door, consider the option of placing the curtain outside. This way you can keep the slopes intact, which most often in such places prevent the door from opening if the curtains are hung inside the room.
Light, thin fabrics are better suited for shaded rooms. Conversely, thick, opaque curtains should be hung on windows facing the sunny south side or on the first floor.
If you have small windows and plan to hang curtains in addition to fabric roller blinds, it is better to place curtains separately on each window sash, made using an open system of 19 or 25 shafts. When covering a window opening or for large, wide panoramic windows, you need to use systems with a shaft diameter of 30 mm or more. To ensure complete blackout, closed systems are used.

What you need to do to make day-night curtains last a long time and without failures.
Please note! Day-night curtains require careful handling. The transparent part of the fabric is made of a very thin mesh, which is very fragile and can tear from any careless movement. This should be especially taken into account if you have cats or small children in your house.
Due to their excellent performance and trouble-free operation over a long period of time, day and night care for roller blinds comes down to regular dry cleaning of dust, and in closed systems - periodic cleaning of the box and guides with a damp cloth.
Cleaning from dust and small stains is possible without dismantling the fabric and is carried out using brooms and brushes.
During room renovations, it is better to roll up fabric blinds to prevent contamination of the fabric.
It should be added that dirty old fabrics on roller blinds cannot be washed. In this case, the fabric is replaced with a new one.
=====================
What breaks in curtains and how to repair it.
Over time, the curtain mechanism in day-night curtains may break. Sometimes the fabric or its mesh tears. Will the fabric need to be replaced entirely because it has burned out? But be careful - the new fabric will always differ in shade from the old one!
Recommendations for repairing day-night roller blinds are discussed in detail in the corresponding section of the site.
